Program International Experience Canada consists of:
Working Holiday – Pracovné prázdniny
Category with the highest number of applicants. Category Working Holiday is for the people who want to travel and work in Canada. The candidate under this category can work for more than one employer (at once if he/she wants) or he/she can start a business (work as a self-employed person) for 12 months.
The applicant for Working Holiday has to fulfil this criteria:
- citizen of the Slovak Republic;
- permanent address in the territory of the Slovak Republic when applying (vacation outside the Slovak Republic when applying is accepted);
- valid Slovak passport;
- age between 18-35 years old (inclusive), important is the age of the day of applying;
- needs to have 2 500 Canadian dollars on the credit card;
- insurance for the whole stay in Canada;
- pay the fee of 150 Canadian dollars to the Embassy, for the processing of the application/request;
- pay the fee of 100 Canadian dollars to the Embassy for issuing the Open Work Permit;
- clear criminal records;
- document showing that you are a student if you apply for the category Working Holiday for students
Young Professionals
Category Young Professionals is for the people who want to work in Canada and have already agreed on cooperation with a Canadian employer. The candidate under this category can work only for one employer for 12 months.
The applicant for Young Professionals has to fulfil this criteria:
- citizen of the Slovak Republic;
- permanent address in the territory of the Slovak Republic when applying (vacation outside the Slovak Republic when applying is accepted);
- valid Slovak passport;
- age between 18-35 years old (inclusive), important is the age of the day of applying;
- needs to have 2 500 Canadian dollars on the credit card;
- insurance for the whole stay in Canada;
- pay the fee of 150 Canadian dollars to the Embassy;
- have a signed letter of offer or contract of employment in Canada – the employment offer must be within your field of expertise (through schooling or work experience) and contribute to your professional development (occupation on the same or higher level as his/her current occupation) Job offer has to be for a qualified work. An example of an unaccepted occupation: waiter, bartender, administrative worker, shop assistant, cashier or any helper, etc. Example of accepted occupation: cook, secretary, assistant of manager, any type of trade worker, manager, supervisor, special worker, etc. (People with post-secondary education could work in selected not-qualified works.);
- registration number of job offer registered by employer at the Employer portal of Immigration Office. At the time of registartion Employer must pay Compliance fee 230 Canadian dollars. This payment cannot be contributed to the employee.;
- clear criminal records;
- document showing that you are a student if you apply for the category Young Professionals for students
International Co-op (Internship)
Category International Co-op (Internship) is for the people who are students of post-secondary schools in the Slovak Republic and who want to spend their internship in Canada as a part of their studies. The candidate under this category can work only for one employer for 12 months.
The applicant for International Co-op (Internship) has to fulfil this criteria:
- citizen of the Slovak Republic;
- permanent address in the territory of the Slovak Republic when applying (vacation outside the Slovak Republic when applying is accepted);
- valid Slovak passport;
- age between 18-35 years old (inclusive), important is the age of the day of applying;
- needs to have 2 500 Canadian dollars on the credit card;
- insurance for the whole stay in Canada;
- pay the fee of 150 Canadian dollars to the Embassy;
- has to be registered at a school as a student of a post- secondary school;
- have a signed letter of offer or contract for a work placement or internship in Canada that meets the requirements of your academic curriculum in Slovakia;
- registration number of job offer registered by employer at the Employer portal of Immigration Office. At the time of registartion Employer must pay Compliance fee 230 Canadian dollars. This payment cannot be contributed to the employee.;
- clear criminal records
Slovak citizen can participate in this program International Experience Canada Program only twice, every time in different category. Period between the two participations has to be at least 3 months.
